it is not winter here. not even close. it is barely even fall some days. yesterday? it was 12 degrees.

even though i am calling this city mine, there is still a whole lot of edmonton in my bones that i can't shake out. and those edmonton bits think that it can't be december, it can't be advent, without the cold. the snow. the crinkly-freeze-your-nosehairs-when-you-inhale kind of cold. toronto doesn't understand this cold even a little. which makes it hard for me to understand how toronto can understand christmas at all. i think it does it all wrong.

i can't wait to be home. where christmas is the realest thing. i've been spending time with wintery images to fill the hole in my winter-heart.

where we gathered sea horses and ate gelato

today is a homey lazy about the house on the couch reading eating or napping, and occasionally remembering bits and pieces of last night with sarah and laughing and smiling. there may be bath at some point.

so i will counterbalance all that fall behaviour with this vibrant bright seas-sidey mediterranean holiday of a collection for d&g. amazing prints.

mm after

on the east coast. after the wedding. when you thought there could be no more loveliness and joy because instead there would be the sadness of it being over. instead there was one and a half magical days with steph, laura, and geir. there was the farm and the terabithia-walk-to-the-waterfalls. there was the misty foggy sandy beach with beers and tequilla. there was the jeep with all the wind. there was the delicious dinner and breakfast and wine and mimosas. there was the crokinole. there was the dancing in the rain on the street out front at 3am. there was the backyard fire and the bunkbeds. and then there was home again. emo-j-lo galore.

i want to go back to there now please.
