trying for open

a bit like with stella mccartney, i have always struggled with my perception of anna sui (vs my actual opinion if i actually look at the collections). i guess i shy away from what i tend to think of as sugar bubble gum hippie fashion. we all know i'm not much for hippies...

but the truth is there's a lot of substance in anna sui's work, if you look beyond the playfulness and show. and i'm trying not to be a curmudgeon who says 'but they're wearing owl hats, and that's silly and fashion shouldn't be silly!' because of course fashion should be silly. fashion is ridiculous! if fashion can't laugh and make fun of itself, then we are truly in trouble. and this season particularly, anna is quite in line with my own aesthetics; twisting around traditional work-wear, for example. so here's some really great stuff. including, even, a pretty amazing fancy-white owl hat...
